Experience the tranquil beauty of Rapaura Watergardens on Rapaura is an example of man in harmony with nature. Abundant native bush and ferns, watergardens, birds (Tuis, Fantails, Silver Eyes and Wood Pigeons), meandering walks over bridges and streams and a bush walk to a cascading waterfall.
There are seasonal displays of native and exotic flowers. Irises and Bog plants in spring, Azaleas and Rhododendrons followed by Orchids, Begonias, Hydrangeas and Water Lilies from November to April. All of these are interspersed with garden art.

Awarded When Fritz and Josephine Loennig purchased 64 acres of bush and grazing land in the Tapu Valley in the early 1960's, little did they realise that Rapaura would one day attract international visitors. Today, almost 40 years further on, our visitors come from countries all around the world and many have returned again and again. New Zealanders too; and some who visited as children themselves are now bringing their families to Rapaura. The present owner, Sally Sank, is dedicated to the ongoing creation and nurturing of Rapaura according to Fritz and Josephine's vision, believing that 'The best Garden is a well-kept wilderness'.
